Our Health Care Auxiliaries help to raise funds for medical equipment, they manage Gift Shops, visit clients, residents and patients and so much more. The following health facilities in the southern and central regions of Newfoundland have enjoyed the services of the listed volunteer Auxiliaries:
Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre
The Central Newfoundland Hospital Auxiliary
The Central Newfoundland Hospital Auxiliary was formed in 1966, on behalf of the hospital, solely for charitable purposes. All funds raised go towards the needs of the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre's health services and programs. With over $1 million raised by the year 2008 the Auxiliary has supported the purchase of many critical pieces of healthcare equipment including: anesthesia equipment, CT scanner, mammography equipment, dialysis equipment, a birthing bed, a bone density machine and cardiac stress testing equipment. The auxiliary operates the Health Centre Gift Shop and a library cart, and also organizes a Staff Appreciation Day among other activities that help them fundraise. The Central Newfoundland Hospital Auxiliary is a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Health Auxiliaries and Canadian Association of Health Auxiliaries. The Auxiliary President, or her representative, is an ex-officio member of the South and Central Health Foundation Board of Directors.

Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre (Botwood)
Auxiliary of the Dr. Hugh Twomey Centre
When this Auxiliary was formed in the spring of 1976, it was formed as a means of involving the community in providing services to the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre on a voluntary basis. Today 30 members run a Gift Shop service, and donate medical and other equipment to the centre, including furnishing two palliative care rooms. The Auxiliary holds an annual Christmas campaign, “We Share the Care Tree”, in which bulbs are sold and lit on a tree at the Health Centre. Some of their major contributions include a portable defibrillator/monitor, a bathing station, a vital signs monitor, pulse oximeters and an ambulatory blood pressure monitor.

North Haven Manor (Lewisporte)
North Haven Manor Auxiliary
In November 1975, some interested members of the community of Lewisporte decided there was a need for an organization to help care for the residents of North Haven Manor. Today there is an active membership of 35 in the North Haven Manor Auxiliary who give help to the staff in different areas as requested. Each month the Auxiliary holds a 'Birthday Party', with a short program, followed by refreshments. Crafts are created by the members and sold in the Gift Shop and afternoon teas and rock-a-thons are their fundraising activities when funds are low. Some of the purchases made through their volunteer efforts include a masonairre mattress, a portable defibrillator, an optimum chair, dining room tables, and a resident lift.

Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre
Baie Verte Peninsula Hospital Auxiliary
Our newest Auxiliary, the Baie Verte Peninsula Hospital Auxiliary formed in 2006 and now boasts 22 members! Since forming their group, the Auxiliary has been busy fundraising and lending support to the staff of the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre Long Term Care Unit. They began their inauguration with a large Christmas craft and bake sale, which proved profitable enough to purchase two night stands and one over-the-bed table. The Auxiliary members volunteer many hours a week at the Health Centre helping with T.V. bingo every second Wednesday and serving night lunches every Monday night. They have helped out with other activities at the Long Term Care Unit, including the Christmas Family Afternoon Tea.
